A new year brings a new start to things. Originally, I wanted to start this blog to create my own pages and sketches… Hence the name of the blog “Sketch this”. But I have come to realize…I am no good at sketching. And I find that when I do come up with a sketch, I overthink it so my page either comes out looking nothing like the sketch, or too literal.

So I have decided to change the name to something that is more accurate to what I want to blog about. Mainly, I want to share what I learn from others, promote sites that inspire my pages, and…well…have fun doing it!

Currently I am cleaning my scrap area so that I can start anew in the next few weeks! I hate to admit that I have not scraped a page in over three months. L boo.. I didn’t even make cards for Christmas ! I am slacking…and in truth, scrapping relaxes me, so there really is no reason NOT to be scrapping!!

On another note, my camera went Klapoowii. It now only works in the upside down position and the controls won’t function. The back story: During cheer this past season, I had the camera on a tripod and some of the girls got squirrely and knocked it over. When I picked it up, something inside had come loose and you could hear it sliding inside. It takes orange pictures…blah…so currently, I am without camera. But alas, I have a plan! I am looking at new cameras and will be getting one in February!

And to get back into the swing of things, I created a small bucket list of things that I would like to accomplish and an amount of time that I would like to get them done. A very good friend of mine would then call them ‘goals’…I will list them in the next few days!!

Got 6 pages done today and a few yesterday! I will take pictures this week and post them! And update my links on the side...and start talking on some of my favorite forums...and scrap more!!!

A new project!

This weekend, Taylor and I spent almost 8 hours finishing this up! And it turned out soo amazing!! So here it is... A weekly poster board for her room!

I opened all of my drawers and boxes of scrap stuff and showed her some scrapbooks and we went to work!

First, we took posterboard and painted it our background color and then took a contrasting color and added 'spots' on the edges. Taylor is a girly girl so she of course chose pink with a darker pink background.

We then took corkboard and cut into 7 even squares and then a bunch of little ones. We painted the squares' edges in our contrasting color. The littler ones are going to be mostly hidden in the end with papers..(or whatever she chooses to put up there)..so I just painted the fronts sparingly.She decided where she wanted the squares to go and then we hot glued them down along with the littler pieces. She wanted to make decorations to fill in the space around them. She wanted her weekdays to be apart from the weekend days and wanted them to have a different look. She took some black and white ribbon and outlined the weekend squares.

And to give them a bit of sparkle, she added dots of the pink glitter to the star pattern.

We finished the weekend days by adding embossed titles of the days. (She did them all!!) She embossed on white and then took a pink ink pad and briefly touched the edges. Then added it to a sparkley background paper and pinned them onto the cork board with brads. She cut out a dino from the Cricut and added him with a sparkley eye and a bow using the remaining ribbon.
For the weekdays, she wanted a more easy-going look. She made the titles the same way using different embossing powder and background paper. In between a few of the days, she wanted to add color with some flowers and buttons.

To the right, she found a sticker sheet with different words and wanted to use them somehow. So we cut the sheet to size and she took a white pen and outlined words that ment something to her in one way or another. She found a pink square and the charms and wanted to tie them together, so we found some pink ribbon and added the ME chipboard. She had to paint the letters black and then add the Stickles so that they would 'go' with her theme. On the left, are two pockets that she wanted to put sheets of note paper in. So we found some rubons and plopped them on and edged the sides with pink, and sewed a little bit on the bottom.

All together, she did most of the work, but it helped me get back into things as well!!!

Missing mojo...

Have you ever been on a roll...looking up new techniques and trying new things...whipping out some pages that you are very proud of
...and then all of a sudden... gone...

No inspiration, no desire to sit and scrap... just nothing ..

That has been me these last two months. I walk by my scrap table and the urge pulling me towards it is not there. I still take pictures, but instead of creating pages in my head for later, the pictures wait still sit in the computer to be printed. My mojo took a summer vacation. But I am insistent that I will get it back.

I am starting a new project hat I have seen twice now and it might be just the thing I need to get get back into the swing! **cross fingers**

So in the words of some really strong guy... "I'll be back!!!" *snicker*

The first page that I want to share with you is from a sketch that I found on 52 sketches...52 weeks. It is her sketch 16 and it was one of the 'possibilities' for the DT submission.

I am really trying to pop out of my bubble and try more techniques. For instance, the grey paper behind the picture, I did not have the actual paper in this shape, so I had to come up with a way to create it. And if you know my style, I cannot free hand. I have no artistic ability that can magicly draw out shapes and have them turn out looking like anything recognizable... :)) I took my cricut and cut two of the shapes that I needed at 11 inches and then traced the shape by piecing them side by side to get the shape I wanted!

For the journaling, I stamped three separate journal pieces and ripped the edges. This is something that I am really trying to get better with. I have not been very good with journaling in the past, and it is a resolution....so far so good!!!

The journaling reads... This is but one moment when time stands still, and I can reflect on how perfect you are. How much my heart has grown every moment spent loving you. And looking forward to every moment to come. I am Blessed!

This was another possible submission for the DT. It was sketch 12, and in this one, I played with a little paper cutting and colors. Like the blue flower...I would have put on a green, white, or pinkish to go with the colors of the page...but I saw this blue and it just kind of worked...still not sure why, but I like it!! :)

New stuff a happenin!!

#1 ~ Over the next few days, I need to update the blog links as some no longer work...very sorry about that!

#2 ~ tanjascraps ~ The blog winner from a few weeks ago...my apologies...but the package came back in the mail and my husband told me what I did wrong on the address (going to Germany I did not think it would be that different..but a little is I guess...) Soo sorry.

#3 ~ Today is the last day to enter your application over at 52 sketches...52 weeks. And if you haven't had a chance to take a gander at her site...take a look! She has weekly prizes and some wonderful sketches!! And new this year is a forum for you to share ideas and such!

#4 ~ I GOT PAGES DONE THIS WEEKEND!!!! The last month has been crazy around our homestead. We took spring pictures of the kiddos...packing for the move, still looking at houses...blah blah blah...but I scrapped!!!! It felt soo great to get some pages done!!

This is one of the few from this weekend. This picture is of all 4 kids piled onto the couch to give Tyler a hug. And if you look really close, you can see all four!! lol

The wings are from Tim Holtz grundge board pack. I used chalk to color the wings and then covered with a clear coating of Glossy Accents topped with a pearl dot.

I did the same for the letters although I did not coat them completely with the chalk...giving it that broken up look that the paper has.

A little update..

I have been soo sick this past week...and still am. Blah... But I was able to get a few pages done this weekend. Although I am trying out for a DT position at 52 Sketches...52 Days, I am not sure I can share it yet...but if anyone else is interested, check out the notice here! She has some amazing sketches an her current DT is WOW!

Scrapbooking and Card Making Online Crop!!

Hey Gals and Guys!!! The DT has been hard at work planning some new exciting things coming up. And to kick off National Scrapbooking Day (May 2nd) we will be holding our first ever Online Crop!!

Chellenges completed!!!

I was finally able to get a few moments to scrap some of the challenges from the Sisterhood of Scrap online crop!! Yeah...and they were soo much fun! If you haven't had a chance to get to any of them...today is the last day! Tonight I will be drawing a winner for my challenge ~ so check back tomorrow for the winner!!!

This first one was for Deanne's challenge #1. She wanted us to use a picture of a fashionable 50's skirt as inspiration for a card or layout!

This page was also a Deanne Challenge #10. She gave us an old Pepsi ad to take inspiration from...and she got me to pull out my wedding photos and start the album! So thanks Deanne!!!

This challenge came to us from Jenn who also happens to be the sister for May!!! Challenge #4 was to take the title of a famous 50's song and use it as a title on your layout. She also wanted to see 5 round elements reminiscent of records and roller skates!! These pictures are of my daughter at 18 months, 6 years, and 12 years.

Challenge #6 came from Carla and I knew when the challenge was given that this is one one I would be doing!!! I LOVE this look and the pop that the all white gives. I have done it before with a black/white picture, and it looks just as good with a colored picture!!! This picture was taken in Oklahoma City in Bricktown.

Challenge #9 also came from Carla. She wanted to see a 12 inch or 7 inch circle, with black somewhere, ooo and lots of bling!!! These are pictures of my daughter in her performance for dance class at school.

Challenge #3 came to us from Candace!!! Take a look and listen to the YouTube link that she has!! Too cute!! Anyway, she wanted us to use the song Lollipop as inspiration. So I decided to look up the lyrics and found this one that went perfect with this picture!! This was taken on a day when my son was not feeling very well, so he stayed home from school. He ate lunch and then went into my room to watch cartoons. I was only a few minutes behind him, but he had already fallen fast asleep.

This challenge #7 came to us from Ali! She wanted us to play with numbers...and to have a clock on the page! I thought of this picture and have had this paper forever!! It's of my step son during our Fall Pictures outing. Thanks Ali!

Sisterhood Online Crop Challenge 2

First...Congrats to the Sister's to an amazing 2 years of inspiration!!!

Now, onto my challenge!!

We have a restaurant here in Colorado that prides itself on it's 50's inspired interior and atmosphere! The guys slick back their hair and the gals wear the poodle skirts! You can have your burger and shake while listening to Buddy Holly and the Drifters on the jukebox!

I took my son there this last week and took pictures of everything, but I settled on one for today's challenge. This is the front of their menu and it depicts the Diners part of our crop!! I want to see your pages or cards using the colors on the menu!

Blue
Yellow
(feel free to use other colors as well...but these four must be there somewhere!!)

That's it....it's that easy!!! And here is my layout !

Another Sunday down!

Phew...I was able to sit down for a few hours today and scrap!!! I think it's been about 2 weeks since I could get anything done. It seems that my mojo comes and goes. When it's with me, I can just pop pages out, but when it's visiting someone else..aka Suzi...I go weeks just looking at my stuff with no inspiration. :(

Anyway, here are a few pages that I got done today. And be sure to check back tomorrow...Sisterhood of Scrap is having their 2nd Anniversary Online Crop this week, and my challenge goes up tomorrow!

We got these Nerf Tommy 20's for all of the boys for Christmas last year. And this is my hubby reenacting the famous 'Scarface' scene.

This page is for my daughter's 13th birthday. It was the hubby's turn to 'coach' the party, so I took the boys to see Santa, but took the camera with me. So he used his phone camera and all of the pictures came out with a yellow tint. I tried to fix them before I printed, but this was the best that I could do. So I used it and had a yellow background with green. ~And I don't know why they all have their mouths open in every picture~

Now here is a question for anyone who embosses. I used grunge board numbers and covered them with Color Box Pigment Inkpad. I then put clear embossing powder on and embossed. It should have come out clear, but it started to bubble and show these white speckles. My heater was pretty far away, so it was not burning it, and I love the outcome. But I am not sure why it did this. Any ideas would be appriciated!!!

Easter 'Tie Dyed' Eggs

The other day, I was looking over at Today's Creative Blog and found a post for Easter Eggs and a way cool way to color them over at Our Best Bites! Take a look at the site for a tutorial on how to make these amazing creations!!! But I thought that I would post my pictures here of the end results.

Now, one thing that I did, and not sure that I will do again, was boil them all together. My water in the end was a purple color and I think that it did bleed into some of the other eggs, so they did not turn out as brilliant. But I will definitely do this again next year, I will just buy the hubby some new ties!!!

New Look...New Layout!

A lot has been going on here at the homestead. I will be blogging about it on my personal blog in a little bit...but that is why I have not been on with an other pages from camp...

During camp, there is a secret envelope challenge. Our hostess and a few helpers put together 10 bags of assorted paper and embellishments for 10 wanting scrappers. Out of these bags, we are to make a layout. I was one of the lucky 'grabbers' along with a wonderful new friend Suzi, and fellow table mate Kim. We took before and after pictures of our supplies and what we created from them! (I did get permission to post their LO's on this site) :)

This first one is from Kim.

And lastly is mine. I tried to use everything in the bag along with a
new technique that I had read about in a recent magazine. I will be
writing out a tutorial on how I did this...but here it is!

After the voting by the other gals at camp, Suzi, I believe came in 2nd!!!!

Woohoo!!! So off now to blog on the other site. I will be back tomorrow for challenges and sketches...I have not done that in a few weeks :(

Good weather and a little camp talk!

Whew...finally the sun has come out and I was able to get some good pictures of my pages!!! (Long post....sorry about the upload time... :) )

Maranatha is such an amazing place! Camp starts at 4pm on Friday afternoon and closes on Sunday at 5pm. So you can go and scrap for 49 hours straight or plan for a few hours sleep in between. (My roomy and I usually go down about 4am and up again for breakfast at 9) And it seems that I turn into a 12 little girl every time I step foot into the main hall. This is my 4 year going, so I am getting to know many of the gals that attend. And we spend that first night mostly catching up!

Previously we have stayed in the dorms (12 rooms with bunkbeds and a comunal bathroom) but after this last time, my roomy and I have decided to fork up the extra $20 and stay in the motel style. Case in point, we go to bed at 4am, and are super quite so not to wake anyone who is already sleeping. (And you hear everything in the dorms) So we do expect the same curtiousy in the morning from those early risers. So my roomy, I'll call her Mary, she and I awoke and she asked me, "do you want me to go yell at them. 'People are still sleeping!!'". I said a very quick and sleepy yes. So Mary gets up, walks to the door, opens it, pauses and then shuts it quickly and says "I can't say that to her" and runs back to the bed like a little girl sneaking to the cookie jar at night and hears her parents walking down the hall. LOL Maybe it's one of those 'had to be there moments' but we laughed soo hard.

One of the best parts of camp is that we do not have to cook. We have breakfast, lunch, and dinner prepared for us and this year the food was yummy!!!! (Not always the case) They put out a salad bar every meal, and bacon for breakfast!!! Mmmmm.............

Anyway, camp was a blast. I wish that we could do it more often though. Most of the ladies reside in Nebraska, so this is the only time that I get to see them and visit, except on Facebook!! :)

Okay...now onto some pages!!

This first one is Amanda right after her surgery last year. She could not make a complete sentence and just had the sappy silly smile! She was definitely feeling good!!

This was a simple page with journaling...which I do not do enough of, but this was my attempt at changing that!

This page I did for one of the challenges: Make a one page LO with 3 or more pictures. I used a borrowed cricut cartridge 'camping out' to get the branches and pine cones. This is just another cartridge on my long list of wants!!! I took the pine cones and used the stencil on the wrong side, put in some defining lines and then distress them on the right side. And I really like the way they came out! Oh...and I did win!!! 2nd place!!

This page of Taylor and Meko was also one of the daily challenges: A LO using Die Cuts. I used the cricut to cut the background scallop and then embossed it with a glittery white. And for this page, I won 1st place!!

I LOVE the way this page turned out. It was actually a lift from 'Mary' who had printed out some of her favorite pages found online. Below is the lift.

These next two pages will go in Bayle and Amanda's personal books. These two have an amazing relationship. And I have soo many pictures of them like this!!

This was also done for one of the daily challenges: No embelishments, which means that there cannot be anything more than 2-D on the page. I won 2nd again!!!

A very quick page that I got done on Sunday afternoon. The silver sheet is a reflective paper and I am not really sure where I got it. But it worked!! I liked the end result!!

There were a few more pages and challenges, but I will post them tomorrow! This post is getting pretty long! Have an amazing Thursday!!!

Sleep is underrated!!

I'm back!!! And with so many new stories and friends that are amazing! But I now have piles of laundry from the weekend...grocery shopping...sleep...and life to catch up on. I will post all of my weekend joys tomorrow...and maybe a few pages too!! :)

On the road again

I have the car rented...the pictures printed...supplies are almost packed...it is that time of year again...Maranatha!!!! It is my bi-yearly vacation to Nebraska for a scrap weekend with the gals! I am leaving early Friday morning and won't be back 'till Sunday night! Woohooo!!!

I am hoping for nice weather, although the forecast is calling for snow today and tomorrow. So far, nothing, but it is Colorado and the mountains makes it difficult to gage. But the fingers are crossed!! I will have lots of goodies to show next Monday!!

And Mary, if you are reading this...save me a seat!!! I'm on my way!!!

Inspiration is in the challenge

Here are a few of my favorite pages from the online crop this last weekend over at Scrap my Memories!!

We had to do an all white layout with a black and white photo! I love the look that came out of it! This is one that I will do over and over again!

Challenge: Scrap someone hard at work or hard at play. These photos worked for both. They were taken last fall during one of her first games.

Challenge: Use Arrows. And it's funny...Bayle asked me the day before to make him something, and I took out an arrow and chalked it gold and then used UTEE to harden the arrow...and then this challenge came along. Worked perfect!!

Challenge: Make a ring or circle of something on your LO. This picture does not show it very well...but there are 'bling' placed all over the paper and on the butterflies. The picture of Taylor was taken almost two years ago the July 4th.

Wow....it's Thursday already... Not sure where this week went. I wrote on the last entry that I would be posting challenges on Wednesday...but our computer went down...again...and I could not get on. So I need to make this entry quick.

SCRAPS book

I posted over at Sisterhood of Scrap for their Teaching Tuesday. Hop on over to take a look!!

The book shown at the end is one that I made a few weeks ago while my computer was down. It is an idea book to put different techniques and sketches in that I find on the web. So that when I am on my weekend crops or just scrappen away from the computer, I can pull out the book and get inspiration that way!!! If you want to know how I made it..just ask!

Oooo...and I almost forgot to post my Monday Challenge from Sisterhood of Scrap...They are wanting you to scrap two pictures of different sizes. These pictures were taken last summer in Oklahoma. And no matter how hot or humid it was...he was out there catching those bugs and frogs and even brought in a spider. Ewww...

I will post challenges and sketches tomorrow...I completely forgot and it is Wednesday tomorrow... :(

This picture was taken at my nephews football birthday party last year. Bayle is at the age where he wants to do more manly-type 'boy' stuff, and Taylor just wants to show that she can do more then just 'girly' stuff. And she held her own out there!!

Week 3-2 Challenges

This week we will start off with challenges. And Sisterhood of Scrap has a great one! They are challenging you to create a page LO or card using baby blue and brown as your main colors. How cute is that right?!

BBTB has a new Cricut challenge using the Beyond Birthdays cartridge. They would like to see the LAUGH OFTEN used creatively on a card or layout!

Cafe Mojo has another color challenge for us...using BROWN and PURPLE! Wow...brown is getting the love this week! Their DT came up with some pretty cute stuff!

52 sketches...52 weeks had sketch 9 out...can you believe that we are already into week 9 of 2009. Anyway, she has a really cute take on this sketch, so jump on over and take a look!

March Page Maps are out!!! I love this site...if you ever need a little jump start to your inspiration, this is the place to do it! The have Round maps, Mini maps, Card maps, Side maps, ect!!!! There is also a Mini Album Call for Memory Makers in their blog!

Pencil Lines has a new sketch that incorperates 2 photos. Very very cute...and it leaves plenty of room for embelishments!!!

Back up and running!

First - we have our computer back up and running!!! And it was only the Video card!! Woohoo!! So no more logging in with my phone to keep up with things...lol

Second - I have been soo busy scrappin, card making, and knitting! Yep, I knit. My daughter taught me a couple of years ago and a friend just had a baby girl!! So I made her a card and some booties with some hats.

Third - For the next month I will be DT'ing for Sisterhood of Scrap!! Yeah!!! I'm a sister!!! I will be posting a whole bunch of cool info all month long!!

Well...one of our computers is down and it just happens to be the computer that holds my pictures and the Photoshop program. But hopefully it will be back up and running in the next week...the hubby thinks that is is just the video card...and I am hoping that as well!!! I have done a few pages and am still working on making those dang thank you cards!! So I will be updating this site very soon...

I found a new site this weekend. Cafe Mojo. They are not only a challenge blog, but also have tips, techniques, and new ways to use old supplies. They have a color combo challenge going on right now...Pink and Navy. I never would have put these two colors together, but their inspiration pictures are super cute!!

Scrapbook Challenges has a few challenges out this week. One has you stamping your own background, and the other has you making a shaker box of sorts!

Sisterhood of Scrap has you using paint this week in any way you see it. Last Tuesday, Sister Ali blogged about using ordinary things around the house as texture. Take a look here and hopefully you can get some inspiration!!!

BBTB has a challenge for all Cricut users using the Alphalicious cartridge.

Party Time

This last weekend, I tried for hours to make some thank you cards for a few friends who had helped out the kiddos...and no matter what I came up with, I did not like the results. So I left my scrap table in shambles and went to bed. This was Sunday night.

On Tuesday, one of my mothers' needed a birthday invitation for her daughter. And within 15 minutes, I came up with this. Nothing to extravagant but cute. Why is it that inspiration comes at it's convenience??!?!!

I still need to make those Thank you cards, and I will try again this weekend!! lol

Week 2-9 Challenges

BBTB is still working with the 'LOVE' theme. Check out this weeks challenge using the Home Accents cartridge. I don't have this one, but I might run out to get it. These projects are super cute!!

Sisterhood of Scrap has another challenge out for us to try. And it's all about photos. They want to see a layout with three photos of three different people. And their interpretation of this is kind of neat to see. I have 4 kiddos, so I don't know how I am going to work this one... hmmmm

52 Sketches...52 Wee ks has a new sketch for us to try. I love the way she does her's in Black and White so the interpretation is completely up to you! There is also a weekly prize for this one!!!

Triple the Sketch had a new sketch that you can use on a layout or a card!!

Scrapbook Challenges has a new sketch out. Pamela, the site coordinator comes up with some great sketches every week. Take a peek at some of her older ones!

Week 2-2 Challenges

I will start off with sketches! I love sketches and use them all of the time! My ending pages do not always look like the sketch in the end, but they are definitely the inspiration! 52 Sketches...52 Weeks has a new one for the week with a prize for one lucky entry. They have also updated their site for the new year and now have a way for you to upload your page!

Page Maps has their new sketches up for February as well as their newsletter! Take a look at page 3 to see some fantastic tags!!! Pencil Lines has a new sketch up as well with an amazing DT layouts! The first one looks like the background paper is newspaper, but it's how she enhanced the paper with embellishments and made the page quite colorful!

A few more

I was pretty busy this weekend, but I was able to sit down for a little bit and get a few pages done. These are the last few for Amanda's book (until the next printing) and I am starting on Taylor's.

This picture was taken at the lake this last summer. She just turned around, and I could see how beautiful her smile was. It was a perfect opportunity for me to share what I see. I found this transparency as I was scrapping and painted the back to make the words pop out.

Here we were at my Aunts wedding (8*8*08) and Taylor was able to meet some of the extended family. Here she was a little hesitant to 'boogie' in front of everyone, but caught the music and started up!

This is a page that I did this past weekend for a challenge that our Guest DT did over at Scrapbooking and Card Making. This picture was taken when we were goofing around and just taking shots. But I love this one of the hubby and Taylor. He hates to be in front of the lens about as much as I do! So the fact that he is smiling and looking into the camera is a keeper!! And Taylor does adore him, so the simple lean on the shoulders makes it that much more special!

A Tecture Tutorial

For this months technique tutorial over at Scrapbooking and Card Making, I thought that I would share one that I got from DIY about a year ago. It has you pleating paper on your page and using it as a visual interest on your scrapbook page. First you will need to collect your supplies. For this technique you will need your background paper, assorted patterned paper (for this I used 5 in shades of green), a 12inch ruler, pencil, paper cutter, strong tape, and some chalk for edging.

Step 1 - Take your main background and cut out a 1 1/2 inch border all the way around.

You will end up with a square you can use later for matting pictures or put in your scraps pile.

Step 2 - Use your choice of chalk or distressing ink to ink the inside portion of the square. In my picture I chose to use a light brown and it does not show up much here but it does make a difference in the end result.

Step 3 - Take your 12inch ruler and mark the middle point on your background as shown.

Step 4 - Make tick marks on your page going in both directions every 1/2 inch. This is the side of the paper that will not be shown, so you can use a pencil or a marker.

Step 5 - Do the same tick marks on the other side of the paper. And set aside.

Step 6 - Take your patterned paper and cut to 10" x 1 1/2" strips. You can use up to as many patterns as you like although the rule of less is more definitely applies. I would suggest though using odd numbers of patterned paper. It will give the appearance of randomness, and not a pattern.

Step 7 - Bring back your outer square and apply a strong tape to the sides we marked earlier.

Step 8 - Take your first strip of patterned paper and fold in half.

Working from the top and bottom going toward the middle, place your strips with the folded side toward the middle of the paper, lining them together on the tick marks at both sides.

Work your way from the top and bottom to the middle so that you can see and plan your design. Be careful not to place your papers in order, this will only create a pattern and we are looking to make it very random.

Continue until all of your papers have been placed down.

Turn your paper over to see your finished result!

Step 9 - Embellish and have fun!!

I hope that this was able to teach and inspire you to try something new. And I would love to see what you come up with!!!

This is Amanda and her boyfriend for homecoming. Now, I remember homecoming some 15 years or so ago, and we did not were dresses like these...but times have changed I guess...and she was very beautiful in it.

Bayle brought home a place mat that he had made at school and that was the inspiration for this next page. He helped me tape the pages down and inner twine them.

Christmas Cards!

Usually I can get my Christmas cards out the weekend of Thanksgiving, but this year has been so bogged down with 'everything' else, that I just finished them and still need to send them out. :( But my goals was to get them out, and they will get out!!! I used transparent paper to make the card itself and then cut about a million triangles to make trees. I then chalked all of the edges of the trees and the snow to make them pop. So they came out as 5 different cards with the same design!

So Merry Christmas Everyone!!!! And Happy Holidays! Stay Safe!!

A few Christmas Kits

Both of these I got from Micheal's...I LOVE that store. The first one is a Train that will hold Candy Canes. It came with tires that you add to the bottom, but I could not figure out how to add them and still get the same height from all three. So I left them off, and it is still cute! The second kit is one that I bought last year for my husband to put together, and he never got to it. So I was up a couple of nights ago, and put it together! Insomnia will do some crazy things, I am just lucky that the mooses head is on straight. :)

Okay, I have not posted my stuff in awhile, but I have been busy!! :)

This is an altered item that I did for a swap in a myspace group. I bought this small dresser at Micheal's and painted it red. I then taped off the edges and painted on the cloth draper. The tree's, santa, and the snowman are cut from paper and glued on the front drawers.

I love the outcome and almost kept it and made her something different, but I can always make another one. :) So this one is in the mail, and a newly bought one is ready to start!!

It's almost the end of the year, and 52 Sketches...52 Weeks is on it's fiftieth sketch!!!

Sisterhood of Scrap is always coming up with some great challenges, and this week they are leaving it up to you. Send in any project, page, or card. This will also be your last chance to get in on the monthly prize. They will be taking the two week holiday off and will be back in 2009. Wow, wasn't it just yesterday that we were worried about Y2K??

Coconut Scrapshop is having a Holiday Hooplah from Dec 1-Dec 6. Each day they will post a new challenge and you will have until midnight PST to post. And there is a prize in the end, a big one!! You will be the GDT for January!!!!

Creative Scrappers is giving having a Guest Designer Contest starting tomorrow night Dec 1st. She has not posted any rules yet, but check back!!

Sisterhood of Scrap's weekly challenge is to create a layout that shows a flying creature in some way. Take a look at some of the examples that are posted!

This week, over at Sisterhood of Scrap, they are challenging you to create a LO/Card/Altered Project using Halloween colors - black, purple, and orange.
